Riverside - Our DutyDisability Equality DutyThe Disability Equality Duty, implemented as a result of the Disability Discrimination Act 2005, seeks to ensure that housing providers and other statutory bodies such as government departments and local authorities adopt effective practice in supporting disabled people to lead more inclusive lives. The Disability Equality Duty is a new way of helping the public sector to make real positive change to the lives of disabled users and employees, ensuring that they are treated fairly and equally. The Riverside Gender Equality scheme sets out what we will do over the next three years to help make sure our tenants, residents and staff are treated equally and receive a fair level of service regardless of their sex or sexual orientation. The scheme sets out our priorities for achieving gender equality. It is supported by an action plan outlining how we will measure and report our performance, and how we will assess the gender equality of all our policies.
